South Africa provides the perfect first safari for those wanting a combination of fascinating local cultures, extraordinary wildlife and magnificent mountains. Even better, you’ll get a lot for your money on a safari in South Africa! You can’t beat staying in a private game reserve bordering the famous Kruger National Park where you have an excellent chance to see the ‘big 5’ (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and hippo).

South Africa has the world’s largest population of endangered rhinos.

A trip to South Africa wouldn’t be complete without seeing South Africa’s rugged southern cape, the beautiful city of Cape Town, and its amazing marine world, including Great White Sharks, dolphins, penguins and seals. We recommend a visit to Robben Island while you’re in Capetown, where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated, and of course make the most of the beautiful region’s mountains and wineries.

There are also excellent safari areas that are malaria-free that provide a wonderful family safari experience in South Africa.

If you are doing a safari in Namibia or Botswana, consider tacking on a few days in Cape Town at the end.
